Yoga Retreat

'Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha'

meditation

In recent times the definition of Yoga is being limited to mind and body along with physical and mental wellness. However, Vedanta tells us that our true identity is beyond mind and body. These objects only reflect on the light of Atman or the self.
The practices of different paths of Yoga are now limited to Asana/Postures, Pranayama/Breathing and meditation only. In addition, the general understanding of Yoga has shifted to physical stretches only.

The term 'Yoga' comes from the Sanskrit word Yuj, which means union. Yoga, in fact, is the union or the realisation of oneness of Self and God. In Vedantic words, it is the oneness of Atman and Brahman. To realise that our true self is not apart from God. In other words it can be understood as the removal of ignorance which is the cause of suffering and duality. With the practice of any of the paths of Yoga, we come over that ignorance to realise our true nature as "Sat Chit Ananda, the nature of blissful conciousness.
